Position: 0.5 FTE; Position Start Time: Feb.1, 2026

Halton Healthcare is currently seeking a 0.5 FTE General Surgeon to join our General Surgery group at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital site (OTMH). The successful applicant will join a collaborative General Surgery division at Halton Healthcare comprised of three community hospitals in the growing urban and rural communities of Halton Hills with a catchment area of over 400,000 people. Halton Healthcare is undergoing a large organizational change as we strive to provide exemplary care for the population in the fastest growing communities in the Greater Toronto Area and in Canada. One Halton Healthcare is a transformational initiative designed to integrate care across our three hospitals (Georgetown, Milton, and Oakville) and nine community sites in response to projected population growth, increasing demand for services, and the need for more equitable access to care.

The Division of General Surgery currently consists of eight elective and three acute care general surgeons at OTMH. Dedicated operating room time, outpatient resources, endoscopy time, and outpatient resources are in place. There is a full complement of FRCSC trained anesthesia, orthopedic, otolaryngology, general, urology, vascular specialists and internal medicine. A closed ICU, and advanced diagnostic and interventional radiology are available.

Since 2011, Halton Healthcare has been affiliated with McMaster University. The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to surgical education at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Position Details:
• Fellowship training preferred
• Up to Two (2) blocks (full day) of OR time per month;
• Up to Two (2) half day blocks per month of endoscopy time and up to Two (2) half day blocks in the Outpatient Clinic per month;
• Proportional participation in 1 in 11 on-call schedule
• Candidates must have certification in General Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed in the Province of Ontario
