Locum ACS surgeon

Locum surgeon – Acute Care Surgery
Applications are invited for one year locum position in the Division of General Surgery in the
Department of Surgery at Unity Heath Toronto – St. Joseph’s Health Centre. St. Joseph’s Health Centre
is a fully accredited community teaching hospital within the Unity Health Toronto network. Unity Health
Toronto is Canada’s largest Catholic Academic Health Sciences System and is affiliated with the
University of Toronto.

Employing approximately 2500 staff, along with 400 Credentialed Staff physicians serving approximately
400 beds, St. Joseph’s provides primary, secondary and selected tertiary services to the West Toronto
region. Serving a culturally and economically diverse population of about 530,000, it has embraced the

The preferred candidate will be a general surgeon with a specialized interest in Acute Care Surgery (ACS)
to cover a parental leave and then as an additional surgeon to our current complement of 3 full-time
Acute Care Surgeons. Our ACS service includes access to dedicated daytime OR time and clinic.

The successful candidate must hold a Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons
of Canada (or its equivalent) as well as hold or be eligible for an independent practice license from the
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

The effective date of this appointment is July 1st, 2026, or shortly thereafter.
