Job Description

The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery is seeking a Full Time Associate Acute Care Surgeon to join our group at the Etobicoke General Hospital

Joining a division of eight surgeons, the ACS surgeon will be on call daily from 7:00am – 4:00pm, with 2-3 overnight shifts per week and a minimum of 1 in every 4 weekends (Friday-Sunday). The ACS surgeon must be available during daytime hours to receive all new consults from the ER, ICU, in-patient wards, and all intra-operative consultations. The ACS surgeon will also be available for daytime opportunities as a surgical assistant in the OR and have 24/7 support from one of the other general surgeons. In addition, the ACS surgeon will be provided with one block per week in our out-patient clinic for patient follow-ups, which includes associated administrative support and overhead costs. Remuneration is fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees and eligibility to receive the HOCC stipend for completed nights on-call.

Job Qualifications

The candidate must have a certificate of registration to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and have fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.  The position requires excellent communication skills in English. Additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population

Osler is a primary clinical partner for Toronto Metropolitan University School of Medicine and is an academic community partner with the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine and McMaster’s Michael G.
