The division of General Surgery at Ross Memorial Hospital (RMH) in Lindsay, Ontario, currently includes a general surgeon and a 2nd general surgeon with Colorectal and MIS sub-specialty training, both of whom share an enthusiastic, collaborative commitment to surgical patient care. We have recently acquired new operative equipment which will facilitate additional advanced laparoscopic procedures (colorectal, upper GI, etc), TEMS, and therapeutic endoscopy. We will be hiring a general surgeon to live and practice in the community and join this dynamic division, in the summer of 2019, but we require a long term locum in the interim. Resources would include 1 OR day per week, 1 Endoscopy day per week, and ½ day of Ambulatory Care clinic per week. Call is 1:4 (additional locums serve as 4th surgeon). Compensation is fee for service, billed to OHIP, and all call is eligible for HOCC payments. Office space and clerical support will be provided by the Hospital. An 8 bed closed ICU is staffed by internists and intensivists, and a Hospitalist service is available to assist in ward care. Advanced D.I. services include both CT and MRI, and Interventional Radiology is readily available via Peterborough Regional Hospital 30min away. Other: Looking for a full time General Surgeon to join a growing surgical practice and a collegial physician group in Kapuskasing. Candidates MUST be Independent CPSO-certified. This is an opportunity to practice true Community General Surgery, with an expanding range of cases. C-section experience is an asset but not absolutely required. Can be learned. The presence of a full time Internist on-site, as well as involvement with the Virtual Critical Care (VCC) program in Sudbury, allows for the care of patients with some comorbidities, through more complex medical patients are referred.

Office sharing is an option, including use of existing EMR and administrative staff in the current surgical office if desired. Teaching opportunities are readily available with on-site NOSM medical students and family practice residents, as well as possible future links with the NOSM General Surgery residency program. Faculty appointment is available through NOSM.

Kapuskasing is a true northern Ontario community, with ample options for year-round outdoor recreation in a beautiful setting. The practice can be tailored to allow for excellent work-life balance. With a large francophone community, French language ability is an asset but not necessary. We offer a generous incentive package, including assistance with relocation.
